Prione has enabled more than 14,000 SMBs online and is powering their strong sales growth this festive season
Ludhiana, Date: Prione, a joint venture company between Catamaran Ventures and Amazon, has seen a strong response in Punjab for its services enabling SMBs to sell online. In Punjab, Prione saw a 300% increase in the number of Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) going online during the last two quarters. Encouraged by the response in Punjab, Prione has set up a full service office including a photo studio in Ludhiana to serve small scale manufacturing units across apparel and hosiery. It also operates 2 satellite teams in the region – one in Jalandhar which is a hub for sports goods manufacturing and export and another in Chandigarh which has over 2,900 units registered under the small scale sector ( Source: Industries Department, Union Territory of Chandigarh).
Prione has undertaken special workshops and trainings in Ludhiana, in the past 3 months alone, 10+ professional workshops have been organized for businesses who want to start selling online. Apart from this, based on feedback from businesses in Punjab, special sessions have been organized focused on in-depth trainings to enhance catalog quality of their online offerings. These trainings help businesses and their products to standout in crowded online digital channel with wide offerings to customers. With a focus on increasing sales, Prione has designed and deployed services in Punjab which provide in-depth market analysis and pricing strategies.
“There are millions of small and medium businesses in India with tremendous entrepreneurial spirit and energy. As customers migrate to online commerce, we help these businesses make the shift towards the digital channel. We aspire to be a trusted partner at every point of a businesses’ lifecycle in online selling. Our ambition is to enable the world’s largest and most engaged SMB client base. Most of these businesses have existed for decades as offline stores; our mission is to create services which transform the way they sell. The goods produced in Punjab have high customer demand across the country – for example, apparel (especially knitwear) and sports goods manufactured in Ludhiana and Jalandhar are renowned for their quality and sought after by customers across India. We have 50+ sports manufacturers whom we have currently enabled from Punjab and 500+ small businesses overall. We are thankful to the business community in Punjab for the trust they have placed in us.” said Mr. Shariq Plasticwala, CEO, Prione.
In the past year, Prione has enabled 14,000+ SMBs to sell online. Most of these businesses were run for decades as traditional offline stores and their transition to online is a step by step process. The critical friction areas faced by small businesses while trying to transition online are lack of awareness and understanding of ecommerce, lack of adequate and relevant resources, inability to create a digital catalog of their products, challenge with logistics and customer service. Recognizing the need for continuous support, Prione has worked backwards and designed services which not only help SMBs get started, but also help them manage and grow their business online. For instance its JumpStart service introduces businesses to the benefits of ecommerce and trains them on all aspects of online selling including recommending fulfilment services and developing SMB capabilities to deliver best in class customer service. The services are delivering the desired impact - in the past 6 months alone, businesses with annualized sales of 1cr have increased by 300% and businesses with annualized sales of 10cr+ have increased by 700%. Further, the high satisfaction of SMBs with these services has resulted in more than 35% of Prione’s (business) customers referring at least one other business to Prione.
Prione is a joint venture between Catamaran Ventures and Amazon, where Catamaran is the majority shareholder.
